The Nomad Life

Boy have our lives been full of fun "life event" moments lately! 

On July 22nd, we were able to celebrate Richard's graduation with his wonderful parents.  He has worked super hard to finish up school, and I couldn't be more proud or more in love with this boy than I am!  He is simply a stud muffin :) 

His family drove out from California, so we did some fun celebrating with them as well as partying for his mom's birthday.  It's way fun getting to hang out together, especially since the times when we see them are too few and far between.

Little boy C was being stubborn and, because I really wanted him to, he would not move so that his grandma could feel him! The little stinker is already toying with me ;)

What a good lookin' family, right?!  Rich's family loves staying in the Idaho Falls hotels that over look the temple.  It is such a gorgeous area out there.

A week after Richard's graduation, we got our move on and packed up all of our stuff for our 3 day drive out to Minnesota for Richard's new job with Mortenson Construction. (We could have done it faster, but my pregnant body can only handle the car for so long before I become Mrs. Insane-o!  Also, there's no affiliation between my side of the family and his company, just fyi.)

We stopped in Yellow Stone to see Old Faithful, which was a nice break for me and definitely a neat sight to watch! It's amazing to see how many people come to observe these attractions.  We loved hearing the different languages spoken there and all of the different types of people that were there (look in the background, you'll start to notice the variety.)

Since the Rav can't tow, we hooked it up to the back of our u-haul and trudged through the country like this.  Our first day we hit some pretty steep inclines as well as declines.  At one point we had to stop because our breaks were so hot that they were warping.  When we go out, the poor things were smoking! Needless to say, we started to pray REAL hard to make it to our destination safely.

On day two of our trip, we stopped by Mt. Rushmore. Boy is that a cool place or what!! I've seen tons of pictures of the place, but nothing compares to the real deal.  You definitely leave with a sense of pride and patriotism toward the country.  I'm definitely grateful to be an American and to be apart of this awesome country.

 If you're ever in South Dakota, it's definitely worth the stop, hands down, you won't regret it.

What do you do when you're going nuts after having been in the car for 7 hours?  Yep, you start to look for all of the random things that will make you smile.  Meet Mr. Dino Sinclair. He brightened our trip...

Until we saw the signs for the "WORLD FAMOUS CORN PALACE!"and simply couldn't resist the urge to go check it out.  Folks, believe it or not, that place is 100% covered in corn! Someone got real creative here.

Now we are in Minnesota (more pictures to come...) and are loving it!  This state has more shopping than anyone could know how to deal with.  It's a danger zone, especially since the world's most impressive Super Target is right across the street from our hotel and it has an AMAZING baby section... yes, the hazard lights are on... yes, I limit myself to how much I go visit, but no, not how long I stay... ;)
We're still waiting to find out for sure where we'll be placed long term, so for now we're just enjoying our week "vacation" in this very beautiful state :)
